I’m about to head off on my yearly pilgrimage to Burning Man.

Of all the things I preach, my biggest spot of incongruence is time off.
I know how important it is.
I sure give you a hard time about it.
But I still struggle to take entire days off.
I’ve definitely gotten better over the past few years. But I still only take 1-2 days totally off per week on average.
Now, being at Burning Man definitely helps.
I’ll be in the desert for almost two weeks. With no Wifi or even cell service. So I’ll truly turn off my workbrain for an extended stretch.
But I know I’ve got to get better here.
Because even when you LOVE your job — and I LOVE my job — your brain needs to detach from work.
This is important for your relationships, your physical and mental health, and to optimize performance.
So if you don’t have any time off scheduled?
Or you’re working 7 days a week?
Consider this your nudge to schedule time off.
