Here’s a dead simple tip that I see MOST gyms get totally wrong…
Pictures play an important role in both your website AND your Instagram.
After all, the internet is a visual place.
Your opportunity in both of these channels is this:
Show pictures that inspire your dream prospect to take action.
Pictures that will NOT work:
- High quality pictures of… your empty gym
- A photo shoot of you oiled up and shirtless and flexing
- Your best clients looking cool doing a max effort deadlift
Pictures that DO work share two qualities:
1) Relatable – You want your clients to be able to see themselves in your gym.
Pictures with no people or pictures of you or your fittest clients looking super jacked won’t do the trick here.
Having said that, they also need to be…
2) Aspirational – Your clients want to see people they can relate to and that they aspire to emulate.
So if you’re a gym for fitness models, you DO want to showcase fitness models.
And if you’re a sports performance gym selling explosiveness? Dynamic shots of your athletes can work here.
But if you’re primarily a gen pop gym, show people that your clients find Relatable and Aspirational.
In most situations, these clients will look like normal people. They should be around the same age as your avatar looking vibrant and in great shape. Use pics of them in your gym working hard, but enjoying the process.
PRO TIP: Need pics like this?
You don’t need to spend tons of money on a fancy photo shoot. You can do a shoot every 3-6 months to fill your Instagram coffers.
Just be sure to choose clients that are Relatable and Aspirational to your avatar.
Remember, the star of the show is the Inspiring Future Version of your dream client.
Btw, just in case no one said it today, you’re doing a good job,
Mark
