The Fitness Business Success Secret Everyone Misses
Why gym owners build lasting confidence by becoming reliable to themselves first.
A lot of gym owners struggle with low self-esteem.
There are a lot of reasons for this.
Sometimes our families criticized us too much while growing up.
Sometimes we internalized social messaging that we weren’t the right [FILL IN THE BLANK] to be successful.
But at a high level, the most common source of continued poor self-esteem in adults is this:
Not keeping your word to yourself.
In fact, my favorite definition of self-esteem is “Your reputation with yourself.”
As gym owners, we’re responsible for coaching our team and clients.
Part of coaching is pushing people to achieve at higher standards; to push past their limits and create new possibilities for their self-identity.
And it all starts with keeping your word.
This is kinda old timey. But it’s nonetheless true.
When you do what you say you’re going to do…
WHEN you say you’re going to do it…
HOW you say you’re going to do it…
You become legendary for being reliable.
And while it’s powerful to be reliable for others…
The foundation is being reliable to YOURSELF.
The first step is getting clear on who you want to be in the world.
And then committing to not let yourself down anymore.
Not missing deadlines to your team and clients.
Not ignoring leads after one or two follow-ups.
Not showing up late for sessions.
Not blowing off your own workouts.
Keeping your commitments to others AND to yourself.
And then watch the world open up for you as you finally become who you’ve always known you can be.
Love you,
Mark
