The Standard We’re Held To

Every time I conclude that my boys aren’t listening, I am quickly reminded that kids have a habit of disregarding the things we say because they’re too busy watching the things we do.

Same goes for employees.

They’re observing the way that we discuss clients behind closed doors. They’re closely monitoring the way we interact with the UPS guy each afternoon as he rolls a heavy dolly out of the pouring rain and into our office. They’re even taking note of the way that we approach our own training as gym owners who may or may not be practicing what we preach.

What we say when we think others aren’t paying attention matters. What we do in the line of sight of our team matters. Who we are when clients couldn’t possibly see us matters.

Our employees are always watching. And we need to act accordingly.
