Until the Final Credit

Every time my buddy Tony goes to the movie theater, he stays in his seat attentively watching until the moment the final credit has passed. He doesn’t race to the parking lot or restroom once “the end” hits the screen.

Tony knows that, for every dozen “stars” who are celebrated for their on-screen contributions in a given film, there are hundreds of others who worked equally hard to make the project come to life. His decision to stay until the very end is a simple yet under-appreciated gesture of respect for the team as a whole.

There are similar examples of hard work often gone unnoticed everywhere you look:

The busboy working his ass off to clear the tables in a recognized chef’s restaurant…

The kid sweeping up discarded hair in a famous salon…

The intern chasing down all the statistics that will ultimately populate the slides of an executive’s celebrated presentation…

We rarely have a chance to publicly or privately praise the efforts of these behind the scenes contributors, so when the opportunity to do so presents itself, I say we jump on it.

Let’s be more like Tony.
