Through the magic of the internet, I’m sending you this email even though I’ve been totally off-grid since last week.
Ya see, I’m on my annual sojourn to Burning Man in the Nevada desert.
This yearly pilgrimage has become an indispensable reset ritual for me. Without exaggeration, it’s the most important personal development experience of my year.
Burning Man is, in many ways, horrible.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s also magical. But when you’re in that extreme of a situation and cut off from the rest of the world, you can’t help but get some clarity around what’s actually going on in your life.
I don’t know what I’ll learn this year. But I know I’ll be a better human, father, husband, leader, and coach for whatever the hell is happening out there as you read this.
I never advocate for anyone to go to Burning Man. It’s not the right fit for most people. One needs a certain taste for madness, and that’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
But I hope you find and commit to your Burning Man.
My end of summer wish for you is that you find a ritual that gives you a similar shot of deathbed clarity.
And if you DO, I hope you cherish it and continue to prioritize it. Not just for yourself, but for all the people you love and all the people who count on you.
I’m missin’ my baby something fierce,
