And now, please enjoy five pithy-ass tips:

1) Adjust Your Computer Cursor So it Moves Faster

This will feel weird at first. But you’ll adjust. And then you’ll be going faster.

Weeeeeeeeeee!

2) Delegate Domestic Chores

Hire help for cooking, cleaning, laundry, and other household tasks.

You CAN hold on to these tasks if they truly nourish your soul.

But don’t complain that you have no time to follow up with leads, or work on marketing, or do other things to grow your business.

3) Only Check Email (or Slack) 2-3x Per Day

MY EYES BURN WITH HYPOCRISY, THEY BURRRRRN!

(I’m still working on mastering this one. But I HAVE gotten better.)

With the exception of sales follow-up, which IS time sensitive, almost no emails require an immediate response. Plus, if you inbox zero 2-3x per day, you’ll be in the top 2% of the entire world.*

*I made this up. But seems right.

4) Take Push Notifications Off Your Phone

Adjust settings on your email, Slack, and social media to never display notifications unless you go in the app. Reserve your phone for time sensitive text messages.

Even then, turn off your buzzing and beeping. Live dat good Do Not Disturb life.

Tell mission critical humans, in the event of a pirate attack, double call your phone to break through.

5) Create a “Shutdown Ritual”

End your day by creating a clear plan for your next day. Prepare any needed documents or clothes or whatever will reduce friction in the morning. Then close your computer and maybe even turn off your phone.

You’ll get three big benefits:

  •  You’ll be more present in the evening with your loved ones.
  • Your brain will get a badly-needed break.
  • You’ll hit the morning ground running, instead of wasting time and brain-juice “deciding what to do.”

6) Bonus Tip: Memento Mori

You’re building sandcastles at the seashore.

Make ‘em pretty. But remember the tide is coming in.

Time is the only non-renewable resource,
