Feature Creep

Feature creep is a term often used in the tech industry. As a product evolves, the introduction of endless new features spins out of control. Something that started as a product for everyone suddenly becomes undesirable to most.

Service businesses aren’t immune to feature creep. People show up to a gym because they want a place to sweat, maybe even pick up some heavy weights.

Next thing they know, they’re sipping a proprietary blend of pre-workout powder, while getting loose on their battery-powered foam roller, in advance of executing deadlifts attached to a velocity-based measurement device while wearing a heart rate monitor and a custom-fit mouthguard.

Do we need to battle with technology at every turn when gravity was enough of a challenge in the first place?

The answer, if you ask me, is no.

Less bells and whistles. More heavy squats.
