Interested is Better Than Interesting

I’ve never listened my way out of closing a sales pitch. I’ve never asked too many questions of the person sitting in front of me considering my services.

If there is one thing I know for sure, it is that people enjoy being given the opportunity to talk about themselves. They’re even more excited to discuss how exceptional their kids are.

The next time you feel compelled to drive home your own agenda, or position yourself as the expert in the conversation, instead try just one more question. Being genuinely interested will help you to close more business. It’ll help you to retain more business. And it will ultimately drive more business.

Stop trying to be the remarkable person in the conversation when there’s one already standing in front of you..
