The Selling Cop Out

The best coaches and personal trainers are world-class conversationalists, and the most effective sales pitches are just thoughtful conversations surrounding a well-differentiated product or service.

If you’re as good at your job as you believe yourself to be, the claim that “I’m just not good at asking people for their money” is a cop out. Allow the person in front of you to clearly perceive your unique area of expertise, and then deliver an explanation of your fees with conviction.

There should never be fear associated with saying:

“I deliver this unique service that doesn’t exist elsewhere. Here’s why it’s a fit for you, and this is what it will cost for you to work with me.”

Simple. Direct. Compelling.

PS: Want to join us in Philly on Sept 15th-16th for our next Unicorn Society retreat? By popular demand, after selling out, we’re adding two more seats!

Day 1 will be focused on everything related to people. Then on Day 2, we’ll create a crystal clear action plan for your next quarter. You’ll create order out of the chaos and leave with a plan; you’ll know exactly how to kick ass between now and the New Year. No holiday slump for you, my friend!

And of course, you’ll also get lots of quality time with like-minded gym owners, as well as Keeler, Mark, Ben, yours truly, and the BFU team. We’ll eat Philly cheesesteaks, have some drinks, and enjoy Philadelphia!
